The University of Edinburgh’s Holyrood campus is home to Moray House School of Education and Sport (MHSES) and the Centre for Open Learning (COL). It contains a wide range of specialist facilities including science laboratories, design and technology workshops, art and music facilities and sports labs and gyms, as well as general teaching and office space, spread across eight buildings off Holyrood Road.

About the Role

We are looking for a Campus Facilities Manager to manage and oversee all matters relating to estates, facilities, equipment, health and safety and security across the Holyrood Campus.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a facilities, operations management or health and safety background to lead a team in the development and delivery of a complex facilities management service. We are looking for someone with exceptional customer focus, proactive problem-solving skills and team leadership ability.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week).

Responsibilities and Duties

Deliver a facilities management service for campus users, coordinating building operation and maintenance, managing spaces, facilities and room layouts to ensure the comfort, safety, accessibility and sustainability of the built environment.
Provide effective liaison with other University teams including cleaning, security, maintenance and servitorial services to ensure a seamless support for building occupants.
Develop and maintain a facility and equipment maintenance and refresh programme, managing asset registers and planning across a long-term planning horizon.
Manage annual premises and equipment budgets and contribute to the development of 5-year planning forecasts.
Proactively promote environmental sustainability initiatives, pursuing funding opportunities for improvement projects.
Coordinate a campus fault reporting process, liaising with Estates helpdesk and ensuring calls are monitored through to completion.
Oversee the provision of facilities support for events on campus, including advice and guidance on use of space and room set-up, H&S considerations, signage and wayfinding and coordination of facilities team members for operational support. Liaise with the University Exams office and University Timetabling around the booking and use of Holyrood spaces.
Oversee compliance with all Health & Safety requirements and regulations. This requires an in-depth knowledge of UK H&S legislation, regulations and codes of practice that apply to staff activities both on and off campus.
Produce and revise local policies and guidance on H&S related subjects, referring where appropriate to University of Edinburgh policy documents.
Promote and monitor fire safety training and ensure the weekly testing of fire alarms and systems. Work with the University Fire Safety Unit to run periodic exercises of evacuations and to test fire safety procedures.

. Excellent interpersonal, networking and communication skills with evidence of developing effective relationships with key stakeholders.
. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
. Understanding of relevant health and safety legislation, regulations and codes of practice that apply to the role.
